There's no escaping some of the most talented comedians on the Dublin stand-up circuit in the next few days.
In addition to the regular nights hosted by The International Bar and the Ha'penny Bridge Inn, this week will see the launch of two new nights and a charity extravaganza, all of them brought together by comedian-of-the-moment, Damian Clark, fresh from his TV collaboration with fellow comic Andrew Stanley, in RTEs I Dare Ya.
Sunday January 13th, International Bar, Wicklow Street, D2. 8.30pm.
Stand Up For Cancer
An impressive line-up of comedians have rolled out to raise money for the Irish Cancer Society. The show will be headlined by Joe Rooney, who you may remember as Father Damo in Father Ted. MC for the night is Ian Coppinger, who will have his hands full juggling an array of funnymen:
Eric Lalor (RTE's Des Bishop's Joy in the Hood)
Colum McDonell (RTE's The Liffey Laughs)
Andrew Stanley (RTE's I Dare Ya, The Liffey Laughs)
Paul Tylak (RTE's Stew)
The Dublin Comedy Improv (The Kilkenny Cat's Laughs fest)
Brian Connolly (two time Battle of the Axe winner)
Sunday 13th January, Bewleys Cafe Theatre, Grafton Street, 9 p.m.
Neptune Comedy Club at Bewleys
Building on its regular Friday night success in the Flowing Tide (opposite the Abbey Theatre) the Neptune Comedy Club is expanding, with a once a month showcase in Bewleys Café Theatre. This promises to be an intimate gig with enough raw electricity to shock an elephant. Headliner Damian Clark, is supported by Fred Cooke and James Marsh.
Monday 14th January, Woolshed Baa, Parnell Street, 9 p.m.
Comedy Shed
Not content with performing in both aforementioned gigs on Sunday, Damian Clark is launching his own regular Monday night comedy club, in the Woolshed Baa. Entry is only €5 and it's a great way to start the week, for those of you too jittery to watch Questions and Answers…
