An aid worker from Belfast, recently expelled from Afghanistan, discusses his experiences in Dublin
The Peace Train Organisation is sponsoring a talk on Afghanistan by Michael
Semple, Deputy Chief of the EU aid programme in Afghanistan.
Semple was recently expelled by the Afghan government, and he promises to discuss the "misunderstanding" surrounding this episode.
Before his expulsion, he worked in the region for almost twenty years, starting with Oxfam in the mid-eighties. He has concentrated on the areas of human rights, humanitarian aid and conflict resolution, dealing with everyone from warlords to members of the Taliban.
The event will be chaired by Rev Chris Hudson, who has long experience of working in the Northern Irish peace process, particularly with the UVF.
The talk will take place at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, 12th February.
It will be held in the Unitarian Church, 112 St Stephen's Green, Dublin 2
