10. Treachery
Nasty thing, being a traitor to your sex, but isn’t that what women are famous for? Turning their backs on the Sisters in order to snigger with that sworn enemy, Man? Cosying up to the source of power instead of trying to resist it? And after all, who but a traitor would agree to write a series like this?
The decent thing to do would have been to close ranks and refuse to admit that women could ever be less than perfect. Instead, I’ve just blasted a hole in the concept of female solidarity, which is already as unstable as a pair of fishnet tights.
It’s not a good feeling, but I’m keeping illustrious company. From Cleopatra to Katie Price, the number of women who count themselves in with the oppressors is shocking high.
And now, having hung my girlfriends out to dry I’m just about ready to join the ranks of post-modern feminists, who display an interesting contempt for those they claim to champion. You go girl.
