Cian Hallinan takes a look at the 10 most popular Irish resolutions for 2009
1. Wear black more. It’s slimming and represents the current economic climate wonderfully. And it’s slimming.
2. No more eating anything that ends in –o’s, -dog, -orama or gastroenteritis.
3. Call parents at least once a month. Without asking for money.
4. Join a gym.
5. Start going to the gym.
6. Stop going to the pub with Jim.
7. Learn to speak a new language. Soberly.
8. Get a better job. Preferably one that doesn’t involves latrines, fast food, the elderly or alleyways.
9. Stick to a budget. Cover budget with sticky fortitude and adhesive willpower. Resist urge to peel off budget.
10. Go back to college. Life was much easier back then.
