The great Irish success story Ryanair has made it into the bottom ten in the ethical rankings of 581 companies around the world, beating companies like Japan Tobacco and Exxon Mobil to the opprobrious deep.
Based on factors such as environmental performance, consumer information (hello Ryanair premium rate helpline!) and corporate responsibility, the list was "a barometer of how multinationals are perceived in the ethical field."
Michael O'Leary (pictured below in the seventh circle of hell) was also in good Irish company, with CRH plc coming in at an inglorious #557.
O'Leary and co were just kept off the bottom spot by such fun-loving and universally respected companies as Chevron and Halliburton (corporate sponsor of the Iraq war), who came in at #579 and #580 respectively.
