Pony Up!

Note: this is NOT a drugfest

A few days ago word started spreading (and FB invites started going out) for an event on Bank Holiday Sunday in the Phoenix Park called Pony Kids. It was to be a dance party thing, with a food cart, graffiti artists, and most importantly...drink until 6am.

Only the demand got a bit crazy...hence the group's FB page now says:

Pony Kids, is NOT a rave, NOT a drugfest, NOT a skins all night party.

Drink can be served until 6am because the polo club is a small, private venue and has a liquor license that allows you to do so.
We're obviously not encouraging you to drink irresponsibly,
Our aim with this night, is to bring together a big mash up of Dublins best djs, throw in an artistic element of graffiti, and offer people something different and fun.

I dont know where some of you got this idea, but now we have to privately sell tickets as opposed to at the door, The polo club is a small venue, and the dance tent is quite small too in comparison with the numbers who want to attend.

It is with regret that we now have to start being selective about who we let in, NOBODY can get into the venue sunday night without a wristband, Security will be checking every entrant at the barriers.

We dont want any trouble, so if you do not have your wristband, do not come to the pony kids.

THIS IS MOST DEFINATELY NOT A RAVE.

Sometimes things seem so close to home that the only thing you can do is guffaw wildly. When they look exactly like your adolescence you might actually fracture your funny bone.

The Diet of Worm's have done just that with their The Taste of Home.

OK it's a viral for Denny, but  everything's note perfect: the mum dancing for the camera, the school shoes, the tan furniture and best of all the beige-jumpered da buzzing off any teen unfortunate enough to cross his threshold.

It IS 1987.

In our very first (weekly) issue we championed Pinocchio in Ranelagh (above) as the best Italian restaurant in town. But truth be told, Ranelagh would give anywhere in Dublin a run for its money in the best food stakes.

And now they (and a lot more of this little patch of D6's top eateries) have joined forces for Taste of Ranelagh, this Sunday. It's completely free besides. Yeah, you read that right, f-r-e-e.

Running from 12pm to 6pm, you'll get to see the village's top chefs demonstrate some top dishes right in front of you, as well as getting to vote for the the restaurant/dish/cocktail of the year. That'll keep the chefs on their toes, what?

The language on the playground is getting worse and worse

A new report from iReach Market Research has said that Irish children's vocabulary have expanded to take in recessionary terminology.

Three in ten parents said their sprogs had started dropping the R-bomb, while 16% are talking about 'credit crunch', 15% are saying 'NAMA' and 10% are even talking about interest rates.

It's all a far cry from a few years ago when sprogs were talking exclusively about lattes, mobile phones and future investments possibilities in the emergent Baltic states.
