Getting your bearings at Tara Street station
The DART is a pleasingly simple system. While all those other silly metropolises like London, New York and Tokyo faff around with spaghetti-like rail messes spanning the further reaches of their city limits, we work a far more simple system.
One train goes north and one train goes south. Sin é.
Of course, you'd think this would make the signs easy to read and understand. Like for example at the Townsend Street entrance to Tara Street station.
Yes, of course Platform 1 and Platform 2. That sign couldn't be any clearer. The number of the platform is EXACTLY what I need to know.
Or maybe you could just tell us which one goes north and which one goes south.
There is quite literally not one indicator of this in that entire part of the station, so every time anyone unfamiliar with that part of the station goes in there, they have to ask.
So Iarnrod Eireann, instead of this:
Hear Hear! A world-class city deserves world class public transport, but we haven't figured it out yet. Can we please have criticism of some of Dublin Bus's many failings?

Totally agree, if they were to do this however, they would probably put it in Irish. I'm all for Irish but I dont believe it is beneficial to our tourist industry.
